After over a year of construction the remodeling on my home is complete. Included was a new dedicated "gun room" to house the arms and reloading gear. I am looking for some ideas about rifle racks and pistol racks for the new room. While not truely a vault room, it is contructed pretty secure and it is linked to the alarm system. It does have a vault door as well.

I would like to build the racks out of wood that could then be finished nicely as the firearms would be on display within the secure environment of the room.

If any one has done something similar, your thoughts and advice would be welcome. Pictures would be great, as long as doing so does not expose your collection to any danger.

My gun room used to have these wall to wall.

This is a pic of a method that I used to employ before I purchased a safe. The stock hangers swivel to allow for the multiple contours of different stocks. I've even used the design to hang some rifles inside the door of my gun safe. It works. Good Luck. Bill........

Here is mine

If I can figure out how to post a pic.
The outer cradles are 4' apart. I have 6'-2 1/2" between walls. 6'-0" would work with less than 1" to spare on each side.
