Bow hunting is tough sometimes, I wont take a bad shot though! I enjoy watching them when no shot opportunity presents itself. I was blessed last year to take my 80th deer with a bow, a week before I had the hip replacement and everything went south. As much as I love guns, I have never taken a big buck with a rifle or ML, not a whitetail anyway. All my best bucks have been taken in bow season, when a lot of folks wont hunt, says it is too hot. I usually kill a couple of does during early bow season, but I have taken 24 bucks between 100-124 inches with a bow, and two that would go P&Y. Funny thing I always wanted to kill a book buck with a bow, and when I did, twice, I ended up not entering them in the book, due to how a lot of folks go on about it. I started bow hunting in the late 70's, and when we first started hunting, we got called Geronimo, or Robin Hood, for hunting with bows. I remember my first season, I had seen a grand total of 8 deer, no shot opportunities with a bow, but did connect in gun season. Now that was 8 deer total, for the whole season, and I thought we were getting a lot of deer, now I see that many in a day. How things change! Now I am after my 81st deer, with a bow, not to mention those I have killed with a rifle and ML. I love deer hunting, but if the wife and I did not eat them, I wouldn't hunt. Now instead of worring about P&Y, I worry about POH, or pounds of hamburger a der will make.
