I need brass. Want to buy 500 to 1000 if it is affordable. I have an unfired stainless Rem 22-250 40X I need to get busy on (after 3 years), and a Encore 22-250AI with VV barrel. I`m low on brass and have not bought any for awhile. Is the Midway price of 23 bucks per 100 (it`s on sale) the best price going?
Thanks!!

Oh, any pet loads that you have found to be tighter than the Reloading manuals would be highly appreciated too.

Bear, I'm using Re-15 and H380 for 22-250. My loads are match loads so the speed is a little slow but accuracy in my Shilen barrel is outstanding.
load 1. 36.2 h-380, win brass, cci br primer, sierra 52 hpbt, o.a.l 2.4 (touching lands).
load 2. 33.5 re-15, nosler brass, cci br primer, sierra 52 hpbt, o.a.l 2.4.
Both loads give about the same accuracy

Use nosler "custon" brass--it is sorted by weight

Get the box labeled ''CUSTOM'' NOSLER. THE EXTREME SPREAD IN THE BOX WILL BE 0.5 GR OR LESS IN THE BOX OF 100. If you are shooting benchrest in that 40 x , nosler custom is what i use in my 40-x

My pet load for the 22-250

I like IMR 3031, I was kinda steered in that direction most everyone around here shoots it so why mess with what somebody else has already figured out. Oh yeah my Ruger seems to like 35 grains of the stuff.

Both cartridges are very versitile......

they will shoot a variety of loads extremely well, I like the speed due to the fact that it helps me in the field on long range shots

22/250
40-41.5g of Win 760 with a 55g Nosler/Win for the fastest speed (Rem 700 VssF)
39.5g of IMR 4350; Win primer with 55g (Remington sporter)

22/250 AI-USE TOUGH BRASS if you want speed
50g Nosler BT 45.5-46.0g of Win 760 -4150 fps in 27" Hart
" " " 39.5g of AA2520 3950 fps
" " " 39.5g of R#15

55g Nosler BT 44.5-45.5g of Win 760 4050 fps in 27" hart

Fire form load-41.5-42.0g of 760 with a 55g bullet, accurate and fast

I have known a bunch of people that have owned custom 22/250 AI's and all of them shot 760 with extreme accuracy and speed.

You might look at Powder Valley, it's 24 bucks a hundred but it goes down the more you buy. That's Winchester.

Low 20's is a good deal for new 22-250 brass

I've been watching the cost of new 22-250 brass going up each month since Oct. and from what I see, if you can buy it in the low 20's, I'd grab it. I found some Winchester headstamps at the Cabela's store here in Michigan for $22/ 100 and took all 7 bags in stock. Got the Midway flyer today and their price is $29.99/ 100 or a discount if you get a 1000 for $261.99, plus shipping, of course. In November, 1000 at Midway was going for $221.99. In Dec., the Midway price per 1000 was $245.99. Bullets are in the same upward spiral, as well. Good luck.

Guess this means I don`t get 12 cent cases anymore, hehe

Dang prices are crazy! I am still looking for a good deal on Nosler brass but in the meantime I ordered Winch from Midway for 23 bucks per hundred. (ON SALE TIL.. ummmm, well I don`t remember, but not much longer) and a thousand is more due to the sale being only for lots of 100. I just ordered five lots. That will keep me busy for a few days when it`s nasty out...:p

Thanks very much to you that responded with pet loads and brass info. I`ve been too busy to shoot lately so am out of the loop for supplies and feel like I`m starting over, except for the part about the prices....
Gonna go sell my Dodge Cummins so I can shoot a few rounds......
