coyote in a 101 mph wind? Damn guys, it's blowing here. Yesterday the official high gust was 101 mph. Right now its 53 mph average with 70 mph gusts. I don't think that ol' coyote can hear me blowing my lungs out on the ol' Tally-Ho.
Local car dealership lost lots of car windows on their lot. I've got a big chunk of the tree in my backyard down....
Seriously, any of you guys have a ballistic program that would tally a 90 degree crosswind at 100 mph with a 55 grain .223 at 3200 fps? Might be intersting to see how far that little ol' bullet's gonna move...:D

Ben a little breezy

If I had a pair I could tell ya as I WAS gona site in the new 223CZ yesterday but wussed out when I got blowen off the driveway gettin to the truck:eek:
I checked with the point blank program I use and it says 8.41" with its max 60MPH wind @ 100 yards with a 55 grain Blitz @ 3300fps...........Might make for some interesting shooting, especialy at 200 yards when it says the same bullet would be blowen downwind 17.65"
An Excel program that will read to 100mph says the same bullet will blow off 8.7" @ 100 and 18.4" @ 200.
The excel program says even the 50BMG shootin the 750 grain Amax is gona blow off 3.4" @ 100 and 6.4 @ 200.
I wonder how much velocity a guy would gain waiting for them to get downwind though with that much wind

It's virtually linear

My program only goes up to 60 mph, but this is a pretty much a linear problem from my experience. For 100 yds @ 30 mph drift is about 2 3/4" @ 60 mph the drift is (assuming a 55 gn Accutip bullet at 3200) is a little over 5". At 90 mph it will be about 8" at 100 yds. If you have to shoot farther than that good luck. At 200 yds it will be about 1' @ 30 mph, 2' @ 60 mph, 3' @ 90 mph. Just the variation in wind from 60 to 90mph will be more than minute of standing dog at 200, so call it in close.

Anyway, good luck.
