Well, last day of rifle season was today.
Elijah had killed a doe and 4 point and me and Tucker
hadn't took a shot.
Well, this evening we said we're after meat. Didn't matter
what it was, we was shooting.
Elijah shot a spike not long after they got there. I showed up and
Went to Tuckers stand and wasn't there for 10 minutes and hear
him shoot. Said a doe...about 10 more minutes and a little doe steps out and I blast it...3 deer in the back of the truck waiting to get the hide pulled off.
Thank the LORD for what he sent by...

Donnie

PS...didn't have to drag but 1...mine... little 1...felt great...

Well at least you'll have venison in the freezer. My season here in northern Michigan was a poor one. Never fired a shot in rifle season.but the next county to the South of me had a early doe kill in September. I took a doe with my .25 Winchester Short mag. Then another in October with the crossbow. So I guess I can't complain.
You guys did good. We didn't see anything this morning on my place where we could get a shot. Have another week in PA and MD to try to getter done.
way to go Kermit! You boys are deer slaying machines! Hang in there Charlie, you will connect sooner or later!
Yup

You got that right, Sam. It's a wonder there's anything with 4 feet left up there on Ruger Mountain. :D
I bet I have you beat, Donnie, one of my does this year weighed just 50 pounds. Tender, right? The other was a 99-pounder, much more yield for the amount of work in skinning and butchering. When I killed the bigger one, she went downhill, naturally. I called my hunting buddy who was supposed to be working nearby, figured I'd get him to come help me drag. He answers and says something like, "Well, Mike, I'm not at work today. Woke up feeling bad, so I stayed home." Dang near killed me getting that old girl up the hill, and that was with a deer cart. I may be getting too old for this stuff. :D

Good job of raising some fine boys Donnie !!! I wouldn't be able to make it to the stand let alone drag a little one out !! Mike
Went to West Central Michigan for opening day of rifle season, and saw nothing but COLD weather and some snow.. Hunted Thursday and Friday and only saw five does and one one-horned, small buck.. On Saturday evening a nice 8 point came out of the river bottom and became the first victim of my Ruger American .308.. Nothing to brag about, but an average buck.. 14" spread and eight nice points.. Dressed out at about 150#.. Meat in the freezer...
We watched for horns all season.
The ones we seen was on the next property .
Never came over where we could hunt.
Last nite a guy that hunt on the farm we hunt text and
said he seen one of the big ones come out at dark and
come on the farm we hunted. Nice to know he's still around.
awesome !

What's the over and under on how many days that buck survives? :D
Doug, & Donnie

What's the over and under on how many days that buck survives? :D
Doug, in order to get an accurate number of days, we need to know if Donnie or one of his youngsters are shooting at the deer? The formula I have to solve that over/under says under 2 days if it's Tucker or Elijah, and HBV* or OA/NC* if Donnie is hunting it. ;) :D

Donnie, glad to read that you've got some great eating in the freezer! WD

*Legend:
HBV= Hit by vehicle
OA/NC= Old age/natural causes.;)

Well calculated WD. Pretty sure we know who will do the draggin', though. Did I mention the braggin'? ;)
