Well...had a good morning. Only 1 bird came home with us but it was 1 of the best
hunts this year. First spot we saw a tom and 4 hens out in a field and put the sneak on him. Adopted son, Little. Britches...shot at him and just got feathers with the O/U at about 200 yards. No way to get closer. Elijah took a shot as he run off but no luck. Next spot heard 1 gobble but he went the other way when he heard the first call. Next spot we spotted a tom about 1500 yards away and he disnt have any hens with him. We drove around to the other side of the ridge and spotted a tom out before we made it to top. Little Britches takes a shot and misses, Elijah shoots at him rinning and misses...0 for 2...make it to the top and the 1 we seen is hammering...we tried to set up a time or 2 and he wouldnt comment. Went off the back side of the ridge and called and he came in like he was on a string. 10 1/8" beard ... 7/8" spurs and didnt get a weight...this was a morning I'll never forget...all 3 boys and smoke theropy to boot...i love it...
