Went the farm Thursday, got there at 2:00 but my hunting buddy, Bob brought 7 rem mag bullets for a 280 & did not want to use 1 of my rifles so into Augusta we went. He actually found shells at the 1st gun store but we got back to the farm at dark. Several other guys were there so we had a great meal of Deer meat balls then exchanged X'mas presents. Friday morning it was monsoon time so the othere called it a year & went home. I went into town for lunch then sat in a covered stand in a light drizzel. It was a perfect set up 6 acres of green rye but no deer. Got up sat morning and sat in a stand over the upper end ol the big swamp but saw nothing. Loaded up & came home. We have never had this bad of a year 16 does, 4 bucks, & 4 hogs. 10 years ago we killed 100 deer & always saw deer. A freind & I went over to the club south of us for dinner and they had only a slightly better year. They have 10,000 acred & 40 members vs our 4,800 & 18 members.
I know it's hunting not shooting but we spend a lot of money & time to have good hunting.

sorry for the "off-year"

What to you attribute it to? I know you guys manage the habitat well....wondering how the neighboring farms did?

Busy day at the reloading bench here Tom. I had run low on the 70's, for the Roberts, and also had to dig around, to find my load data for the Sierra 117 gamekings. All set now, come hogs or coyotes. ;)

Hello Tom, A few bad apples visiting your property in the off season can really put a hurt to it, A number of years ago in Mississippi are local game warden finally caught 2 brothers who had been suspected for a long time. Big sting. They were doing it off horseback and when they followed them to where they were hiding the hides and such they pulled 127 recently killed remains. Enough to make ya sick. If you think your property is buttoned up pretty good look for horse prints in the off season when things are quiet.
Good Luck, what your telling us makes no sense.
