Sunday morning we drove to the port city of Pohang, Korea (directly east of Deagu), and went out in the bay fishing for mackerel. There were a total of 17 people on the boat, six in our group. We fished for about four hours and returned about 5:30 PM. Lots of fish caught all around, including one that went nearly 1 meter long, caught by a member of our group. I caught seven mackerel myself, although I wasn't feeling the best - had a low sugar reaction. I believe that these are a type of what is commonly called a king mackerel. Somehow, I ended up with no pictures of the trip! After we returned to the pier we iced the fish down, grabbed a quick bite, and headed back home. The wives were waiting for the fish so they could make sashimi (sushi), and we had a late dinner. All told, a good time was had by all. My first time ocean fishing here in Korea, but it won't be my last!

Interesting...it's fall and the kin mackerel will be moving into Hatteras soon but the weather is very poor. Won't be taking my little boat out after them. They are fantatic eating. I love to smoke them. Excellent just that way or brek it into little pieces and make a fish dip with mayo. Kinda like tuna salad.
