You need to squeeze the lips on the magazine guide rails just enough to keep it tight.
Bend the magazine guide rail
forward just a small bit (with the mag out) this may also help with feeding. Go to RFC and check in the "Marlin" forum for additional help. I have modified a Savage 5 round magazine by trimming the ears off the back/top of the mag and now have a nice flush fit 5 round mag.
