I have fond memories of stripper fishing the vineyard in June and the fall Derby.Three of us got into them on the south shore one night, where they had just opened a oyster pond to the beach.Every cast they got bigger, untill at daybreak my bud brought in a 35 pounder. Those all look over 30-35.It's all fun,and good eating too
Most of you salties don't even know that we have the very same fish right here in Kentucky. Yep. They got landlocked down in the Carolinas (I think) a few decades ago and adapted to survive totally in freshwater.
I started hanging out on a forum called Stripers.com years ago and went to a tournament they held about 10-12 years ago at the Cape Cod canal. It was called Sluggopalooza because the only real rule was that a jig/Sluggo combo was all you could throw. It was a tough night, with few fish caught, but I came out on top with a mini-cow that went about 28 pounds or so. Sure was fun meeting those saltwater guys and seeing how you do it up there.
