Can I ask a dumb question about the MOUNTAIN MAN MATCHES?

I went to the site, but wasn't able to pull up much in the way of details, except reference to prizes (always a GOOD thing!)

So, what makes it a "MOUNTAIN MAN" match - different from any other hole-punching contest? (nothing wrong with hole-punching tho!)

Waaay too far to travel this year, but interested in visiting vicariously!!

That’s a good question Paul. Best I can tell, that name was chosen by the fellow that originally started the match, Robert Brockman. Perhaps because he was from southwest VA. But it’s still just a hole punching match. The rules are simple, and the targets are caliber specific ( .224, .243, .308 ) If you can’t make it this year, try to make it next year, the food alone makes It almost worth the trip.
