No, you do not have to log in for each session. When you do log in make sure you check the box that says "remember me" and you will be logged in each time you visit. This "remember me" box sometimes has a time limit to it, maybe days, weeks, months, a year or maybe forever. I do not know what the default setting is, Mike might be able to answer that part.

I think you can read without logging in, but if you want to post, it will ask you to log in.
