She just found out that she has breast cancer a couple of weeks ago; surgery is scheduled for December 18 (bilateral mastectomy). What lies beyond that is still unknown (chemo, radiation etc.). Fortunately, the type of cancer she has is considered 'easily' treatable and very survivable. Still, a very frightening situation to be in. Her name is Kate, and she is a strong, intelligent lady (an MD herself) to whom we have all become quite attached. It can't hurt anything to have a few additional folks praying for her and her family.

May God bless her and give her strength. Such an operation is a MAJOR deal to any woman: affects their psyche as much as anything too.

She'll likely need a bunch of loving support from family and friends to get over the shock. But, my grandmother had a "Bi" operation before I was born, and she lived until I was in my 50s and never had any recurrence of cancer!

She was a very special ol gal - road horses, went camping on fishing trips, ran a mom n pop grocery store by herself, raised 3 kids, 9 grand kids, and was socially active. You'd never know she had that operation, and I hope the same for your Kate.

Prayed.

My mother was a breast cancer survivor....a woman of faith, it scared her badly....had lost her mother and brother to cancer.

Back in those days a radical mastectomy was the treatment - she was happy when that breast was gone.

Best.
