Picked up a box of Nosler Varmageddon .224,55 grain FB Tipped at a local outdoor shop today. Although in the past I've used Nosler loaded ammunition and bullets in larger caliber rifles with good results, I am curious if some of the forum members have tried or use these bullets on a regular basis in their 22/250 and what their experience/opinions are. The Nosler reputation & price point drew my attention to these bullets.
I'm interested if anyone has tried these bullets using Vargent or H380, which are my go-to powders for my 22/250. Interested in brand of powder, grains, COAL, rate of twist & MOA results at short & long range.
Appreciate any & all input, Breezeshooter.

I use the 55g tipped in a Savage FV12-223 with Varget, very accurate round. I also use the Nosler 55g FBHP with the same powder charge in same rifle, about the same accuracy as the tipped.

I have a factory REM 700 heavy barrel varmint in 22-250 1-14 twist. My rifle don’t like 55 gr pills. I’ve tried a fair number of brands, Hornaday,Speer , Laupua, Starkie, Winchester, Berger, Sierra match kings. My experience was that they weren’t stabilizing. 3/4 inch groups at 100 yds. 300 yds you would find a few fliers that would keyhole. The barrel is clean and in good shape shows very little wear. When I clean it I bore scope it and know damn well it’s clean.
When I got the gun 20 years ago I removed the barrel and sent it out to be Cryoed. In talking to the tech people at Sierra and Hornaday they told me that with a 1-14 twist the 55 grain pills were on the very fringe of stabilizing.
I solved my problem by loading 50 grain Hornaday V-Max plastic tipped bullets. I’ve used a fair amount of powders also and I ended up liking and using 29.7 grains IMR8208XB and they chrono at 3640 fps and shoot lights out.
FYI the 223 has a 1-12 twist and it can stabilize a 55 grain pill with no problem.
That about all I got to say on my experience I hope you have a target rich environment, and God Bless.
