New to site-got a 40xbbr 6mmbr with 1-12 twist-want to use 80 gr. match bergers to start. Bought a bunch of live 77gr. lapau's which shot prettty well. It is broke in and got fire formed brass. Can you help with a powder to start with. I am hearing v133 or varget. I know there is more work to go,but a suggestion of type of powder would help. Thanks Jim

6mm BR powder

Try the 6mm BR website. They have lots of loads for various bullet weights I think. I shoot a lighter bullet (75gr) with 28-28.5 gr of H322 which is probably too fast for heavier bullets.

A "must try" for a 12 or 14 twist is N135, Rem 7.5 primer, and 68 to 80 gn blts (closer to 80 w/ a 12 twist). IMO, N133 or H322 is going to be a bit too fast (it is in my 14 twist 6BR, with 68s).

Don't overlook AA-2520 . I am working with a new 6 BR barrel 14" twist and am shooting 62 gr. to 74 gr. Match bullets . I have found the Rem 7 1/2 primers are what this barrel likes and AA-2520 with N-135 a close second . However I get the best ES numbers across the crono with N-135. I think I heard somewhere that N-135 was developed for the 6 BR case . I don't know if thats true or not but it sure works good in mine.
