Anyone know what number contour the Rem 700 varmint barrel is?

I am looking at Mcmillian stock & the one I like takes up to a #8 contour.

Douglas has one as a standard contour

I think Shilen and others refur to it as a #17 contour.

The Remington varmint is really it's own contour, kind of like a very heavy sporter. Most sporter stocks could be opened up enough. A #8 doesn't have much taper and is much heavier than a Rem. varmint.

I sure wouldn't waste a McMillan stock on a factory Remington barrel unless it is super special.
