Good morning, GoGo. Louisville is going to be dangerously hot today. It's 70 now, going to 95, with a Heat Index going as high as 105. To make things worse there's a huge outdoor music festival down on the river today and a major NASCAR race at the Kentucky Speedway, which is about halfway between here and Cincy.

I need to level a new scope on my 6BR today and my challenge is how to do that without a proper bench setup. I guess I'll set her up on a table here in the house, level the rifle at the full-length scope base and then level the scope using the top of the elevation turret. I like the idea of one of those gizmos with a rod that inserts into the front of the barrel and then holds a crosshair that you align the reticle to. But since I only mount a new scope every 2-3 years at most, I've never been able to justify the purchase. If it were cooler weather I'd do this at the range and mount a target level at 100 yards or so, but getting out in today's heat just wouldn't be smart.

Y'all have a good'n, drink lots of water, and stay safe out there.

Good morning gang. It's 64° here with sunshine. May be a chance of storms later. Definitely a chance of heat and humidity. Gonna be well into the 90's today. Need to get some coffee in me then get Miss Sue started staining the deck. I have to work at the shop a bit then go to a feed later with some guns from the shop. Better get moving.

Have a good one.

Great morning,

It has been 71° for several hours with high humidity here near Halfway USA. There is rain in the area but so far only a brief sprinkle has made it to the gound.

I installed a fresh set of brake pads on the rear of the truck. I had them on hand expecting to need them before heading to the Prairie Dog war front. The guy who changes my tires informed me I need brakes but sounded pretty disappointed when I told him I would do it later in the afternoon as I had everything I needed.

The truck will get a bath this morning. Lunch with Douglas' inlaws at around 1pm at the near by Maple Grill. They are bringing MORE stuff for me to haul west.

If get some clearing and the sun shows through we will be pretty muggy by 3pm.

morning all. 53 and may get to the low 80s, cloudy, had some spotty showers yesterday afternoon and evening, some of the valley got hard rain, we didn't.
Middle son and grandkids came in last night, hope to spend some time with them if things hold together around the farm.
Have a great day and weekend.
GOD BLESS. Dean

KF, I have had pretty good luck leveling a scope by using a line level or machinists level on the action, then using a weight (sinker) on a string or a plumb bob to create a vertical line to the vertical crosshair on the scope.
