After more than 25 years my MTM Shooter's Accessory Box finally failed.

The downside of this shootering box is the fact that half of the storage has to be rest upside down when the box is closed. It has been the main sticking point I have had on that box. And the lid that covers and seals the upside down storage side is what finally broke at the hinges.

So I am looking for a new shooting box. Thought I would ask for recommendations.....hoping that someone may suggest one I have not see or heard of yet?

Thanks,
DB

Go down to Home Depot or Wally World, go to the tool dept, they have roll-around tool boxes with a top shelf, a top compartment and a bottom compartment. Fit easily inside the trunk of your car, made of plastic so not very heavy. Carries all your junk. Costs about 26-28 dollars. I have used one now for over 5 years, still going strong. There are two models of this, be sure to get the one with the larger wheels.

DB--you might try a Plano

Guide Series tackle box. I just got one for Christmas and so far I think it works great! The top lid has an accesory compartment on each end and the lid opens up to a roomy compartment and there are four slide out trays with various size compartments. I will try and post a picture in a couple of days. I think the box sellls for about 25 to 30 dollars. Good luck in your search.

I repaired the hinge on my shooting box with offset hinges (Bought at Wal Mart on clearance) about 2 years ago and it is still going. I just used small stove bolts and drilled holes in the plastic and bolted it together.

Same thing happened to mine too.....

The same thing happened to mine.........twice and I ended up fiberglassing the hinge back together. It seems to be holding up nicely. However, I agree that the flip-over-unside down thingy, is a pain in the butt. I have seen shooters at my club with the boxes on wheels and it looks like the way to go. If and when my box goes again, I may try that route. Keep us posted on what MTM says or does about replacing your box. Good luck:)

Here is what I use. The whole thing joins together on a wheeled base, but the three individual boxes have handles and come apart. The top toolbox is tolls, chrono, etc. The second is mostly varmint ammo, and the bottom is full of C&R tools and ammo. Works great.

That's the exact item I posted about earlier. Thanks for posting the photo. These work great, several other shooters in my club use them also.

Silly me!

I have one of those Stanley boxes, received as a Christmas present.
And I thought it was for tools! I also have one of the Shooter's Boxes
in question, and it is too full of stuff. I think I see an expansion to the
Stanley "tool" box, in my future. Thanks for the idea!

I bought some "Action Packer" from WalMart, 'bout the size and appearance of a medium size cooler. Don M has one w/ a handle at one end and wheels on it. Seeing his monster size box reaffirms an old axiom: Have space, will fill it! I'ts kinda like a live-in *****...If you have it available, you'll be tempted to take advantage of it. But, if you don't have it, you probably won't miss it!

if I remember right!

I think you will need a very large one. One large enough for 5 lbs of powder, 2000 primers, 100 pieces of brass, all the reloading equpment such as a hand primer, case trimmer, scale, trickle scale, lee reloading scoops, spare rags, cleaning sprays, bore guide, cleaning rod, brushes, tips, Butch's. Rem oil, Kroil oil, Sweets and patches.

You were the one who chose to load the bullets as you shoot them one at a time with a hand loader at the hotel, after midnight the day of a shooting event after you drove to another state to shoot a stock savage against benchrest rifles.

ISN'T THAT YOU? :p
Better get the truck bed size! It might get you by as long as you only bring one caliber to the range!:)
