saw your article in SCN re: bedding scope rings (Nice article, btw). Had a question though. What about the top half of the rings? I guess theoretically if the bottom's bedded, the top just acts as a clamp, but couldn't overtightening the top put a bind in it?

the top acts acts as a clamp, and since the bottoms are bedded, it does not need to be tightened down super tight. you sould evenly tighten the top rings working each screw a little, not just all the way tight on one and then the other. sorta like putting wheels on a car.

the grip on the ring is from the bottom, the top ring is just to press it into the bottom ring. the majority of the grip is from the bottom ring.
