The Gillette News-Record's Jan. 15 edition could have easily made the above list. Seems a 19-year-old Gillette man accidentially killed his rat terrier while working on his rifle.
The paper reported that Robert Strohmeyer was making modifications to his Savage .270-caliber rifle when he tested the trigger and racked the bolt. He squeezed the trigger a second time, the paper reported, and a bullet struck his dog, "Biscuit."
Thr rifle is generally used to kill deer.
Strohmeyer, according to Gillette Police, plans to bury the dog in Oklahoma, where the dog is from, the paper reported.
