Not sure when the changed, one or two years ago, I believe. I have some of the VSSF models from 4-6 years ago in 223. 22-250 & 220 swift. Bought a VSSF II in 204 Ruger a year ago. It has a double palm swell stock, & is polished SS versus the more matt of the older model. And the flutes are painted black. Both models shoot very accurately in my experience.
It originated in 1994 w/the 223,22-250,220 swift,and 308. The 243 was added in 1997. In 1998 this model was ported, one year only. The end of this model came in late 2005 and the VSSFII was introduced for 2006. This model has bright polish metal, black flutes a slight stock change and a big price change.
