Before you get up and drop your favorite gun into your pants pocket on Jan. 1, maybe you should warm up your computer and see what new 'traps' may await you if you walk out the door with a gun in your possession!! About twenty states have passed new laws that go into effect on this date and some are rather questionable! Extended waiting periods to buy, banned stocks, triggers, magazines and many other things including, in the Peoples' Republic of Illinois, confiscation of all of your guns should a family member think that you "are depressed or may cause yourself harm" for some damreason! Then the cops get to come in and "REMOVE" them to 'PROTECT YOU'! Nothing is guaranteed as to when they 'might' be returned either, nor how they would be identified and/or protected from damage, or receipts of what was taken, etc. when in the "custody" of the police department, sheriff or whomever is 'concerned' for YOUR safety and good health! Most likely, in other words, GONE, Mallard; gone for good! Yeah, they'd never use the police against honest, law-abiding citizens would they? In a pigs eye they wouldn't!! It's here and it's here now, Doubter!! Just check the laws for Illinois & California for examples! Yeah, WOW!! There are eighteen other states going to legalize new legislation effective Jan. 1, 2019, too! The day is here and the damDemoncrats are a-dancing in the streets, or at least the aisles of their Legislative buildings!! THIS IS PASSED AND SIGNED LEGISLATION I'M TALKING ABOUT, NOT PROPOSED!!
.
Just imagine the havoc a pizzed-off old lady can have with this law!! OR, a damwife beater could lose ALL of his toys and the right to own any forever! Or a pizzed off neighbor, even!! Yes, forever! Research the laws, as I ain't going to look 'em all up for you, but California has that type of language in one of their new, PASSED, and GOING INTO EFFECT laws!

Come on Down to GunTucky, afore they lock you up and throw away the keys.
And bring Paul Workman with you.
Welcome to what we have here in Australia. Here if you get an AVO(Apprehended Violence Order) put up against you by a ex wife, neighbour etc the cops come and get your guns and good luck trying to get them back as it will take 10 years if your convicted of something from it.

This law was amended because of a lot of claims from ex wives, pissed off neighbours etc trying to cause more grief to their husbands, boyfriends, neighbours so it has to be a genuine application for 1.

I'll lay odds that 1 of our ex PM's who brought in some bloody stupid gun laws was the 1 who's put these stupid ideas into the small pea brains of your gun haters so as to be seen to be doing something which really translates into trying to keep their snouts in the public money trough.

Don't be surprised if you don't see moves towards a firearms registry wankfest like we have here. It's "supposedly" used to help track down any guns used in crimes as well as giving the cops and govt. a list of who owns guns. New Zealand had one of these and got rid of it as did Canada as it was a waste of money and showed surprise surprise no real benefits in fighting crime but was costing the taxpayer heaps for zero results.

Codger

Hey Codger, if KY doesn't suit you, all you gotta' do is move one state east and you won't have to worry about crazy stuff like that. Whenever some idiot Democrat (yeah, I know that's redundant) proposes a lunatic law, it dies in committee and never even gets a vote.

Kevin is spot on. Brain dead Hillary and her cohorts Pelosi, Schumer, Feinstein and others, often suggested we should have an "Australian type" gun control law. They don't hesitate to point to it's "success" down under.

It's "success" is a blatant lie as there's still drive by shootings by crims probably more related to drugs etc and all's the gun control laws have done is create more hoops to jump through for the 800,000+ legal gun owners in Australia while not doing anything to actually kerb gun related crime.......once again all to be seen to be doing something and baffling the sheep with bullshit.
You will find that those who have no understanding of what it takes to get a gun license and a gun are the ones who bleat the most because they heard it on the tv or read it on the internet so it must be true and when you show these highly strung window lickers exactly what it takes to get a gun they go into cascading stupid mode and start ranting because it isn't what they read or heard from the media.

Watch what happens next as there'll be other states watching this and if it even looks remotely like it could grab votes for the snout in the public purse crowd they'll try it on.
Illinois

Just got an email pointing out that Illinois now recognizes handgun carry licenses from other states but only for carrying a gun in your car. Can't carry it when you get out of the car. This only applies to non-residents holding a license from another state it looks like.
