HAPPY HUMP DAY, GoGo. It's 62 in Louisville. Only going to 68 because of the big storm front that's about 3 hours west of us. It's supposed to rain, hard at times, all the way through Thursday night.
I worked at home yesterday and during my breaks I got some pulled 9mm bullets cleaned up a little. I'm pretty sure these bullets were from a run of military ammo because they have a little line of red sealant up near the ogive and some have a smidge of black gunk down toward the base, some kind of glue, I guess. I soaked some in furniture stripper and some in acetone. The goopy stripper worked best but then it had to be cleaned out of the big hollowpoint. The acetone was easier, but only removed about 80% of the black gunk and didn't seem to touch the read sealant at all. These bullets are 124gr Federal HSTs and I wouldn't be going to all this trouble except that they aren't available as reloading components yet. Only way to get 'em is to pay over $1 a round as loaded ammo or manage to find some that have been pulled and are for sale.
Lucky Gunner Labs testing shows they're a wonderful SD bullet, so I'm glad to have 'em even if they are taking some cleanup.
CarlP, I want your life. Are you retired yet, I forget? Any weekday when you get to go to the range and then finish up pond fishing for bass, that's a darned good day. That's a beautiful Savage you've got there. Love the stock and have 2-3 Savages like that myself.
Charlie, you'd better climb a tree there near the house this afternoon if you can, cause the rain's gonna make it miserable the next couple days. Hope at least one of those nocturnal "ghost" bucks slips up and gives you a shot.
Y'all have a good'n and be safe out there.
