25° here in Upstate NY this morning, the high for today is to get up to about 32°. We have a dusting of snow this morning and it's supposed to be sunny today.

Yesterday I was on the road all day and it looks like today will be another busy day for me.

Have a Wonderful Day Everyone.

Great morning everyone,

26°, cloud cover & a chance of snow later before a warm up here near Halfway USA. We may see 40° by the weekend.

Much to my pleasant surprise, I was able to cut a that 4"x8"x48" Oak mantel section in half. I did it on the floor with a circular saw. The initial cut on one side was straight enough & after I flipped it over the second cut was pretty good too. Deb & I ran the cut edges through the planer & it smoothed up quickly. I devised a way to attach it all to the brick work so it won't be visible unless you stand on your head.

In the early morning news, USGS say there was an Earthquake in TN, GA & KY. Anyone notice? This map is from about 5:30am as seismic data fills in from the previous hour.

Christmas dinner with Mike & Corey and their families this evening. Deb is looking forward to have visitors.

morning all. 13 to start off Hump Day! Mid 40s again with a chance of snow tonight and the wind is going to blow for sure.
Made more progress on the old Dodge pickup, might finish it today if I can find a couple u-joints without going to town for parts, the more I work on this thing the more I find that needs done. But it's in the shop and the used oil heater is working fine.
Chores and then have to load a hay truck this morning, boss man is going Christmas shopping with his wife today so I'm in charge.
Better get around, have a great day and be safe and warm.
GOD BLESS. Dean.

Good morning everyone. I got to the shop about 6 this morning and got coffee going. Just about finished with the last 2 furnace parts and they are jumping up and down to get them in house to do their part on them. I will be out tomorrow to go pick up my daughter from Wilmore so I'll be down for the day as far as working is concerned.

I haven't shot anything or even reloaded anything in a couple of months I don't think.:( Hopefully that will change soon....I still have plenty of 20 cal stuff loaded up so that stuff will just need a quick top off. Work needs to slow up for a few days so I can get my gun projects done and tested out. I also need to start getting some bullets ordered for any matches I get to go to this coming year. I need some light and heavy 6mm for my PPC and BR....I might toss the Dasher barrel on and test it this spring too. I didn't mess with it much before I put the BR barrel on.

Supposed to be in the 40's rest of the week I think.....and I wont complain any....much better than 10!

Well I'm back off to weld and grind for a while..Have a good day!

Happy HUMP day folks. This one's for my Southern Friends...

Speaking of Southern Friends, where's JR been? Hope the Revenuers didn't catch up with him?

It's 34º here with clouds. They say we might get snow showers tonight into tomorrow. Didn't hear them calling for any accumulation. We'll probably get a foot.

Gotta get moving. Have a good one.

HAPPY HUMP DAY, GoGo! It's a nice 38 in Louisville, going to 52. Rain due Friday and Saturday, I think.

I installed Wolff Springs lighter-weight trigger and disconnector springs in several ARs yesterday. One of the stock triggers was already down around 5 1/2 pounds, while the other two were up around 7 1/2. What I found was that the Wolff springs got me about half to three-quarters of a pound lighter. Hardly worthwhile to go from 7 1/2 to 6 3/4, but then I wasn't expecting a miracle. Those heavy triggers had some polishing, but might come down a bit with some more hand work. I have one Geissele (sp?) trigger that's a nice, crisp 3 to 3 1/2 pounds and it's easy to feel the difference. Scott, is anyone selling just a polished trigger without the other parts? Seems to me that's where the most bang for the buck lives, but I don't know that I've seen anyone selling just a polished trigger.

Scott, please say hi to Mike and Corey for me and tell 'em the shooting bench they built performed beautifully again on my spring trip to South Dakota.

Donnie, it sounds like your message to the NWTF finally got through. Thanks for you and Melissa being the kind of folks who put the kids first and for not letting some jerks foul that up.

Y'all have a great day and be safe out there.

I have had success smoothing triggers with VERY CAREFUL work with an Opaque Arkansas oil stone on the sear. I only use about 10 firm strokes. After that, I reassemble the rifle & drop a glob of automotive rubbing compound into the engagement points. I then operate the trigger for 50 or so cycles being careful to not let the hammer smack into the front of the lower receiver (at the mag well). Clean it thoroughly following that.

That procedure hones the two parts together pretty well.

I will pass word along to Corey & Mike.

After all that, I let 'em run dirty - very dirty. The grit & filth from the powder flowing into the trigger pocket will do the final smoothing.

As for lessening the pull weight - try this:

34º and cloudy this morning at 5:30 in the hollow. Forecast is for clouds and 51º. I can live with that. Doing some coughing and sneezing. Seems I picked up someone's cold germs somewhere in my travels. My personal witch doctor has me on some essential oils that seem to be doing what they are supposed to do so I'm not feeling all that bad, just dripping a lot. Not much on the urgent agenda today so I'm considering dragging out the chrono I picked up a couple of years ago and re educating myself on it's function. We'll see how that goes. I don't care that much about speed, but I do like them to all go in the same hole and speed seems to have some influence on that.

G'day Y'all,
Rick

Good morning all. Running a little slow here this morning but I am running. The USGS map looks like there was a slight disturbance in the force NE of Nashville. Wonder if there have been any purchases of Tannerite around there lately.

Not being much of a gunsmith, I'm using drop-in triggers on the two ARs I currently own. One is a 3 lb Timney, the other a 3.5 lb CMC. Had one of those famous "two stage match" triggers in my first AR and it was not good. The drop-ins can be spendy but lacking the skill and patience has it's issues. Also had a Jewell purchased from Great Scott himself. It was pretty good but it went with an AR I sold to my BIL. YMMV.

The day goes on. Hope yours is good.

Yes Scott. I felt it. 3:15 a.m. I had just got up and was sitting quietly in front of my computer when my whole house shook like a thunder boom had happened. I went and looked outside and everything calm as a mouse.
