Question regarding Route 7 thru Mass. I have to get from Canaan, CT. to Rutland VT. Is it worth taking 7 all the way up or is there a better route? My main criteria is 'travel time' Email off the board if you choose: [email protected] Thank You.
I used to travel that road quite a bit, Rt.7 that is. If time was the only factor, I'd go over to Millerton,NY and pick up 22 North, follow it all the way up to the VT border, then cut across over to Bennington on Rt. 9, I think. Nice scenery, way fewer stop lights and diddling through the towns along the way. You lose alot of time through Pittsfield, Lenox, Williamstown, MA. Pick up 7 again in Bennington, stay on the "super 7" portion past Manchester and the tourist traps there, and straight shot through Danby into Rutland. If you happen to be over near 91 or the Bradley connector, you can follow 91 up until you can cut across over into Ludlow, then pick up 100 into Rutland on the back side of the hills. I live in the NW hills, so 7 is easier than 91 for me. Hope this helps a bit.
