They've been worrying it to death over on 24hour campfire. Mixed feelings, the .35 guys don't think much of it, liking their .358s, and the .338 guys are thinking yeehaw!.... It sorta like the .325 WSM, a big WHY? comes to mind. There are plenty of rounds that do the same thing. A 200 gr. .308 load will do most anything the .338 Federal will........

Son likes his

My son had had a 308 rebarreled into the 338 and is very happy with it.

He's still shooting factory Federal ammo with----I think---180 gr bullets.

He hunts in very thick woods and his shots seldom get much over 100 yds. He's killed 3 deer with it and says it does a good job.

Most of us have a rifle chambered in a cartridge that something else does just as well......

If we all had that attitude, all the gun makers, smiths and aftermarket guys would be out of business!

Just think of all those people out of work!

I will continue to do my part to keep the economy going and the those people jobs!! :D

Actually, I think the 338 Federal is a nifty cartridge. I don't have one yet.....Hmmm.

Gotta get to work on that one.
