stirs the emotions big time!

I read a few posts...one mentioned that there was a reason the wolf was "driven out" the first time years ago, and that we've forgotten the reason why we did. I would agree!
and...
I'll not start even trying to get logical with animal rights folks. End of post.
One small glimmer of hope...

The Fed's are trying to, or may have by now removed the wolf from the endangered list in ID, WY and MT. So, git your foxpro's boys..and start playing the "wounded anything" sounds.

I was trying to think though. I am not sure that the wolf was re-introduced to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan because they were never extirpated from that region. There are 10 times as many wolves in upper MN as there are in the rest of the entire US. I don't know that it is legal to hunt them in MN. Last year, I think it was, there were 145 out of 3500 killed by Federal Hunters.
Nope...not delisted yet. The good news is that when they delist them we residents will probably get first crack at them. I assume they will be a "draw" hunt, with 10% of the tags available to non-residents.

The wolves were always here in the UP of Michigan in very small numbers. Then the MI Dept. of No Reason, aka MI DNR, dumped a bunch of them here. They tell us that there's "only" 405 of them here now, but the numbers they are giving are way under the actual number of wolves living here. Hopefully, they will delist the darn things here too. Michigan wolves

Have a buddy with about 160 acres in the UP of Michigan. We stayed there in August and I heard some wolves howling at night. The UP natives said their numbers are really on the rise! Many of them practice the 3 S's. I'm sure the numbers are a lot higher then the M-DNR says.
The guy from Texas said it looked like a coyote to him. He probably doesn't realize that the deer are a lot bigger up north, making the wolf look small.

Alan,

You've made a much bigger point with that comment than you may realize. Most of those animal rights people that you are pointing out tend to not think with logic as the central means of reasoning; rather, they tend to think with emotion and some may slightly temper their emotional thoughts with a small bit of reasoning...sadly, it seems that they are mostly emotional based people. The same type who are more concerned with your good intentions and not the results of your intentions. Those types tend to live in a vacuum of theory...most don't realize there is such a thing as the real world.
