Been to Italy a couple times and saw "The Hole in the Floor."
(Several places)
No seat.
Bassano del Grappa I think. Medieval town built in the 12th to 17th centuries.

That swinging bridge here has been there since the 13th century with renovations.
Jest down the road from Marostica about same vintage town with holes in the Floor also and a
Chess board there the size of basketball court or Hockey Rink for @FBecigneul and @CTKenagen player converge once a year? And play a match with people dressed like Pawns, Knights and Queen.
Supposed to be the birthplace of Grappa and there are a couple of 400 year old distilleries In Bassono del Grappa.

Went to Mainland China for work for a couple of weeks back in 1982, when it was first opened up. Yep, it was an elongated trough latrine and was tiled on the floor and edges of the trough. Just squat over the trough and do your business.
